With the changing of times comes the changing of technology. A few years ago we built a website for Signworld, a small company that produces all kinds of signs and displays for hundreds of clients. That website was built on Flash technology, which at the time was the exciting standard. The site also did not have a Content Management System, which meant that updates to the content of the site were a slow and complicated process.
Nowadays requirements on the web are different. Heavy usage of flash is disadvantageous for many reasons, not least the fact that it’s not at all a mobile device friendly format. Flash is also disregarded by search engine crawlers, which is an important source for many successful websites.
Signworld realised that to be at the forefront, they needed a new website which could be easily and rapidly updated with the new signs they produce. Signworld is a busy company with very short turnarounds, so they don’t have time for complex operations with the website. In order to achieve this result, the new website features in house products NIUportal for the Content Management System (CMS).
The new Signworld website was again designed by NIU. It features a simple layout which is centred around displaying the various fascinating examples of signage Signworld has produced over the years. Apart from a list of services Signworld offers, the site features an easy to use gallery withphotos and videos, linked directly to the Signworld YouTube channel. The site is also linked to theSignworld Facebook Page.
The site also features a news section, which can be updated through the CMS and a simple form to contact Signworld.
The new Signworld website will certainly be an incisive and easy to use tool for Signworld to interact with its audience and clients as well as showcase some of its stunning work.
