One of the latest NIU projects is the brand new Malta University Residence website on http://universityresidence.com/. The University Residence is the official residence of Malta’s university and hosts hundreds of students from all around the world, as well as non-academic visitors. It is owned by the Malta University Holding Company, whose entire web presence is currently being overhauled by NIU.
The website is graphically clean and pleasing, with a large slider on the homepage for pictures, and a sizeable area for header images on other pages. It contains a large volume information about the residence, such as all about the different kinds of accommodation, the Residence’s facilities, and even a guide on how to deal with more difficult room mates!
UniversityResidence.com also contains the latest news from the Residence, photo galleries, and contact and feedback forms. However, of most importance is the facility that allows students to book their stay and pay online using the user friendly booking form on the site.
The new University Residence website is easy to use and access for everyone; both potential tenants and University Residence staff. Since the site is based on NIUportal, the Content Management System (CMS) used by NIU, editing and insertion of new content is simple and straightforward, and can be carried out by anyone with basic computing skills. This was a requirement from the start of the project, and in fact, is a favourite part of the functionality of the University Residence staff, who interestingly have worked there ‘since the beginning.’ Only the management, and now the website, have changed.
NIUsletter, the bulk emailing system by NIU, allows the Malta University Residence to communicate with its clients and newsletter database. The news section is also easily updated through the NIUPortal CMS.
Chris Schinas, the Operations manager at the Malta University Residence said that he “was impressed by the promptness and professionalism shown by NIU”. We’re exceedingly happy to have met the team’s expectations and look forward to delivering more quality products to the Malta University Holding Company in the near future.
