The latest exciting project for NIU was the Dial-A-Cab website. Dial-A-Cab is a new company in Malta, offering cab rides all around the island in brand new yellow London cabs. All cabs have Wi-Fi and accept credit card payments, as well as letting users book by phone or online.
The Dial-A-Cab project was a particularly exciting one for NIU. The website is based on NIUportal, our powerful Content Management System, and which allows Dial-A-Cab to easily update all kinds of website content with a few clicks.
The new website was built in total compliance with HTML5 and CSS3, which are the latest and most versatile and robust website coding standards. The site is extremely mobile phone friendly, and uses HTML throughout. Flash has been avoided. JQuery was used in all the forms so that they reload and submit immediately.
JQuery was also used in the Rate Calculator, a convenient little tool, placed on the right side of the site, which allows the user to quickly check how much a cab will cost for any set of destinations.
The new site is also linked directly to Dial-A-Cab’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. But if you ask anyone at NIU what the best part of the project was, they’ll tell you it was the day spent in one of the cabs, going around the island and taking photos of the cabs for the website and promotional purposes. The cabs turned heads everywhere we went, and they’re sure to be a huge hit with people.
